Maarefa School is an Arabic Language Community School, founded in Melbourne Australia in 1997. It is a response to strong community demands for the teaching of the Arabic language and culture to their children and to promote intercultural awareness. The mission of Maarefa school is:
1) To promote and teach the Arabic language and culture through engaging with local and wider communities in diverse teaching and communication modes.
2) To facilitate multi-language and multi-culture awareness to enrich the positive mutual atmosphere of respect and responsibility within local and wider community.
3) To facilitate awareness of different ideological beliefs and promote mutual respect.
Maarefa School invites any person interested in participating in its programs regardless of race, ethnicity, gender or belief. The school believes that everyone has something to give or something to gain from participation.
Maarefa School is a DET accredited Arabic Language Provider and a member of the Ethnic Schools Association of Victoria (ESAV).
